Southside Harm Reduction Services is not stopping our work providing new supplies and naloxone to people in our community in response to COVID-19.
We are committed to serving our community and those in need of our services during this uncertain time for as long as we are able to. However, as the outbreak continues to develop our access to supplies and the ability to deliver supplies may be interrupted. We are taking steps internally to protect our participants and volunteers and as a result interactions with SHRS volunteers may look a little different than you are used to. Please refer to our social media accounts and website to stay up to date on our services.
It is important to remember that the COVID-19 outbreak is one of FOUR epidemics impacting people who use drugs in Minneapolis: Hepatitis A, HIV, and opioid overdoses being the other three. Syringe exchange and naloxone distribution is still a critical need in our communities.
Deliveries are continuing as usual on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. However we have fewer volunteers available to do them, and so our capacity is less. Please text us at 612-615-9725 on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and we will do our best to get to you the same day.
Call for deliveries at least a day or two before you’re completely out of supplies as we may not be able to get to you the same day. Also, think about stocking up more supplies for a longer period of time than usual if you can.
